View to the Rigi and Lake Zug
The Gnipen is one of the southernmost peaks in the canton of Zug. It is right next to the Wildspitz, but unlike the latter, the Gnipen is merely a place for hikers. From the Gnipen it takes just 25 minutes to reach the Wildspitz on foot, which lies in eastern direction.

All around the Gnipen, there is a lot of forest, next to some grassland. Especially to the south it is very beautiful, as the forest is not cultivated and looks very wild. There are a lot of rocks but the trail is very easy to go.

There are many trails leading on the Gnipen from all sides and all of them lead through nice green parts with forest, grassland or some small marshes. Most impressive however is the Rossberg, the big break off of a big part of the Mountain which covered Goldau in 1806, where up to 40 million cubic Metres of rock broke off. Nowadays, this area is well known for a very special fauna with special trees and flowers.

The Alps to the south of the Gnipen
The Gnipen with its 1586 metres a.s provides an astonishing view on the Alps. But some of the peaks are covered by the Rigi, which is close by to the south.
To reach the Gnipen, there are a lot of possiblities. One may start in Goldau, Walchwil or Sattel. All places are easily reachable by train.
Of course it makes sense to take one of these locations for the goal of the trip.
Generally it is not hard getting on or off the Gnipen. There are white-red-white marked hike trails which are not difficult, but sometimes quite steep. There are however some metal ropes on the way from the top in direction Zug. It requires some climbing there, but it is not difficult.
