Pilatus 2007 - Report |
On the 8th of September 2007 my mate Schoggel and I were about to walk up the mount Pilatus.
The Pilatus is a mountain next to Lucerne
in central Switzerland. Its peak is above 2000 metres a.s, so this is just
a good mountain for a one day hiking trip. We startet early in the morning...
|
This is the lower station of the rack railway in
Alpnachstad...
|
... located 435 above sea level.while the top we wanted to reach lies at 2057, so there was about 1600 metres to go that day. |
We started with misty weather, most of Switzerland had sun, but the mount Psilatus
was surrounded by clouds and fog. But after about an hour, we saw the first rays of light.
|
Well, we managed to miss a turnoff... but we managed :)
|
At about 1100 metres a.s. we always had a blue sky above, but the fog seemed to follow us.
But it was not that tragic, as this might lead to nice pictures.
|
Just beautiful!
|
And up we went.. another 450 metres to go. The legs started to get heavy, food supplies went thin...
But none of this was able to dampen our spirits, and we went on, eager to enjoy the view from the top. |
And the view was definitely worth the exertions! The view on the alps to the south and east was
just great.
|
On the way down there were some more sights which I just had to capture.
The left picture is still from almost on top while the right one is some
hundred metres down on our decent on the other side, direction
Kriens.
|
The trail down was a little harder than the two of us expected.
For a little mountain hiking, we had to use our hands a little too often,
but we managed to safely reach the restaurant at the Fränkmüntegg from where
we took the cable car down to Kriens.

| Unfortunately I experienced some problems with the camera I had with me that day, therefore some of the pictures here hat to be adjusted a little in brigtness. |
